Happy Birthday to Kam

Another slightly overdue update, but no less important— a tribute to my favorite 25 year old! My wonderful husband had a birthday on March 5th and we've been drawing out the celebration ever since. We tend to have birthday weeks in the KamPugh home [at the very least].

It's hard to believe I've only known Kam six [it will officially be 6 years this May] of those twenty five years. Lord willing, maybe the day will come when we've known each other longer than we haven't. If my math is correct [which I say with relatively low confidence], that will be our 36th year of life, 14th year of marriage.

Do you like how I strategically placed myself by him for this picture? Moving on...

March 5, 2013. Happy Birthday Kam! We started the party [on March 4th] with a home-cooked birthday eve dinner.

Garlic butter shrimp and broccoli with pan-fried orzo cakes.
Oreo Rice Crispy Treats. Sooooooo good!

You may start to see a trend as this post goes along. [Namely, the trend that I automatically go the food route when trying to bless or give gifts to the people I love!]

The next day, his actual birthday, kicked off with breakfast in bed [with some of the best company ever].

Why yes, I did try to write I <3 U in ketchup on his plate.

Then, T came to visit! [Thanks for giving birth on March 5, 1988]

Sorry T, this is the only documentation I have of your visit!
She graciously suffered through watching the HadMan while Kam and I took a little trip to Montgomery. What's in Montgomery, you might ask? Well, that's a great question! It worked out [rather well] that Alabama and Auburn were playing each other in baseball that night in Montgomery. We bundled up, kissed our boy goodbye, and headed out on a birthday date!

An ominous orange and blue sunset loomed before us as we made the 45-minute trek down I-85. Foreshadowing? I think so...

Birthday boy's point of view.

Bundled and cuddled up.

Unfortunately, the Bama baseball team lost and therefore, didn't get the memo that it was Kam's birthday. His consolation? One of the best philly cheese steak sandwiches he's ever had. [Food wins again!]

It really was a blessing to be able to take this time with Kam. We love Haddon Pugh, but a free night every now and then isn't too shabby :)

Speaking of free nights, the grandparents get credit again for this one. The weekend after Kam's birthday, my mom and dad came to visit. Friday, Kam and I were able to have another birthday date night to celebrate.

I'm not sure how observant you were with the pictures above, but my outfit was one of my birthday presents to Kam. Crimson pants, houndstooth [sort of] shirt, black cardigan. [I know, right?] Strangely, I already had all of these things in my closet. This was originally intended to be my baseball game attire, but once I found out the low for that night was in the 30s, that plan changed. I decided to still follow through with the outfit for date night number two. [Don't worry, we went out to eat in Opelika!] I know you're all wondering [at least I would be], so I'll tell you where we ate :) Cock of the Walk [thank you, Restaurant.com gift certificate] and the Overall Company for dessert.

Happy Birthday, my love! Thanks for not needing much to make it a happy one.

Seven Months!

Hey blogger friends! My sincerest apologies for keeping you waiting. Mom kept hogging the computer, so I'm finally getting a chance to access my communicative outlet. There's lots to cover, so here we go!

BIG NEWS :: I can sit up on my own!

Aren't I so grown? This has changed playtime forever and has made things much more hands free for Mom. It isn't without its dangers, though. I have taken many a tumble, but am confident in claiming this milestone, regardless of the occasional clumsiness.

Speaking of clumsiness...

Say hello to my shiner! The dangers of being more mobile have begun to take their toll on my body. I think there are going to be many of these in my future. I think I welcomed myself to boyhood with this baby.

Continuing with my amazing mobility, I really am all over the place. I am still rolling like a champ—I can cover some serious ground now!

With my new moves, I am also becoming increasingly destructive. So much so that I've heard talk of "babyproofing" around these parts...

Crime Scene: Joshua Haddon Pugh vs. the Flowers
So I may look guilty, but I was totally framed...

As the resident wiggle worm, I also make bath time a little difficult these days [somebody has to make things interesting around here!].

Who me? Difficult?

I don't know if you would call this "pulling up," but I definitely know how to get around. When T came to visit while Mom and Dad celebrated Dad's birthday [post on that coming soon], I was showing off my standing skills.

Dad has dubbed the ottoman as my first pulpit :) Speaking of preaching, check out some of my new vocal skills...

In the past week or so, my babbling has begun to sound more like words. I can do da-da-da-da, ma-ma-ma-ma, ya-ya-ya-ya, ee-ee-ee-ee, and countless other impressive phrases. They think I don't know what I'm saying, but it's really that they don't know what I'm saying. It's perfectly cognizable [yes, cognizable] to me.

You may have noticed it in the videos above, but I'm also making a new face these days. I usually scrunch my nose when I smile, but now I'm just scrunching my nose and opening my mouth really wide. It's usually accompanied by some form of grunt or gasp. Mom has dubbed it my "stanky face." I'm not sure why, everything I do is cute...

Awesome, right? Derek Zoolander's "Blue Steel" ain't got nothin' on me...

I still love to eat and am pretty willing to try whatever Mom feeds me. I recently was introduced to garbanzo beans because we were advised that I need more iron in my diet [apparently all babies do— thanks, Aunt Lauren]. I was thoroughly disgusted, but still ate them. I did for a couple of days, but now I'm not having them. Mom made a ton, so she's trying to mix them with other things to mask that grainy texture. I humor her and eat these new concoctions— she tries so hard...

I'm also eating without my clothes on. Apparently a lot of the food I eat stains my clothes, so my Mom wised up and removes all that before I grub. Don't worry folks, I still have my diaper on.

I'm also trying a new teething toy. Meet Mr. Carrot!

Still no teeth yet, but I'm definitely chewing on everything. Maybe one day they'll decide to appear. I'm not sure how excited I'll be about that...

Another new thing came in month seven...

A babysitter! Meet Regina. She's pretty awesome. She comes over every week to hang out with Mom [I'm always excited about Tuesday afternoons!], but this was the first time I got to be with just her. Other than when the grandparents are here, Mom and Dad had never gone out without me. They went to dinner to celebrate some silly lovey dovey holiday in February. I think I behaved well enough to prove myself worthy of being left behind again.

Family pic before they headed out for date night.
I also got to visit with Nana and Papa this month.

I will grab anything—that includes your nose [or hair, or beard, or mouth....]

Well friends, I think that covers the highlights. I'm still waiting for my 7 month photo shoot. Mom needs to get with it. I don't know why she thinks she's so busy. She hasn't seen nothin' yet ;)

I shall return with number 8—it will be here before you know it!
Love,
Haddon

Mustache Mondays— Short Lived

Due to irreconcilable differences, Mustache Mondays have been cancelled...

I have decided not to frustrate my little boy more than necessary :) I think because of his experience this morning he may be on a blog strike... his 7 month update is coming at some point in time [yes, I'm playing the blame game].

Maybe one day he'll pick up the facial hair again...

Mustache Mondays

We are going to start a new tradition on the KamPugh blog— Mustache Mondays! [I know, please contain your excitement]. While shopping in Hobby Lobby [my favorite pastime], I stumbled upon an excellent page of stickers. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as we do.

Introducing Monsier le Pugh...

Blurry pictures means we're having fun :)

The fun is over...
